What is injection lipolysis?

Injection lipolysis chemically reduces the number of fat cells around the injection site. The chemical, called phosphatidylcholine or ppc, results in fat cell disruption and death.

A simple explanation of the fat loss process:

PPC solution is administered via injection into the adipose tissue (the layer of insulating fat beneath the skin). It then penetrates and invades the fat cells’ membranes, disrupting the integrity and weakening the cell walls thus rupturing the cells and allowing the liquids within the fat cell to flow into the inter-cellular spaces. The cell remnants are cleared up by the body’s immune system the liquefied contents then absorbed into the lymphatic system and      excreted from the body.

Reasons patients want injection lipolysis

Nonsurgical candidates and patients interested in a nonsurgical approach to reducing the fat in the abdominal areas, thighs and arms may be interested in injection lipolysis & may opt for this type of fat reduction treatment.

What’s in the injection solution?

The active ingredient is Phosphatidylcholine (PPC), a component of Soy Lecithin, which has the ability to emulsify/dissolve fat. Lecithin injections into the fat layer prevents the body from storing fat in the targeted regions and improves the fat burning capacity of the body. The second inactive component is a sterile saline solution (salt solution) that keeps PPC in a soluble state.

Active Ingredient

Phosphatidylcholine (PPC)

Damages the membrane of the fat cells in the treated zone, dissolving the fats and expelling toxins.Makes the membrane permeable.Leads to the outpouring of the dissolved contents into interstitial fluid surrounding the fat cells. Sterile Saline: Keeps PPC in a soluble state.

How many sessions will I require?

Injections are administered in a grid pattern spaced 3-5cm apart over the area to be treated. Typically, the number of injections average 10 or more and usually require a minimum of 2 sessions or more (depending on the areas requiring treatment) for adequate improvement to be seen.

What are the results of injection lipolysis?

Most patients have at least two treatments spaced 2-3 weeks apart, which is the typical duration of swelling. Patients can have between 2 to 6 treatments to the area under treatment. Your doctor can develop a plan that best suits your individual anatomy. During the period of swelling the area can look fuller than it did before treatment, but as the fat cells are disrupted and the inflammation subsides, most patients see results by 4 to 6 weeks after a treatment. Unless a patient were to gain weight, the results should be long-lasting.
